Up Coming Dates:

We hope everyone had a lovely long weekend last weekend!
Our Week:
Math - We've been learning how to round numbers to the nearest 10 and 100. It was a difficult concept at first but using a number line really helped and it was also great practicing making and using number lines!
Literacy - After reading about the Seven Sacred Animals, the students have been researching quick, interesting facts about the animals. They've also discovered what teaching is associated to the animals and a little bit about their conservation history. The next step in their learning is to decide which of the seven animals they would like to study further by using the "Drawer" graphic organizer.
E-Motion - The students started a dance/movement/emotional regulation residency. The students have been learning about their bodies as a shell for their heart and brain, understanding emotions, learning breathing skills and regulating our emotions.
Inquiry - This week we started looking into what the different bodies of water are and the students used Google Earth to find different sized and types of bodies of water in Alberta. We traced the Bow river all the way to the Bow Glacier. This also ties in nicely to our "States of Mater" inquiry. This week while discussing what matter is, we decided we need to figure out if air is matter. Does it take up space and does it have mass? We have begun an experiment to find an answer to this involving a balloon and a scale and some air.
