Day 1 of Coulee School (June 3)

Today's journey to the coulee was my favourite because I felt so much more calm and relaxed because you all were so calm and relaxed.  I loved sitting silently eating, asking questions, sketching, and I wondered, where are all of the nests? I want to thank you all for making today's journey successful, all thanks to you. - Ms. Paterson

I thought it was nice and quiet because I could hear the creek and take the temperature of the water. - Anthony

At the duck pond, I loved hearing all the birds.  - Deklan

Today started out a bit bad because my bag broke and then my day got better because I got to walk around and explore.  - Bryelle

I'm glad we were quiet enough to hear all of the birds.  I've been in the coulee a lot and I've never heard that many red winged black birds. - Nathan

I am glad we got to explore around the creek and see what things were in the creek. - Izzy

I loved the bannock.  First I tried the blueberry jam and then I tried the strawberry and I thought the strawberry one was better.  I took some water off the waterfall and put it on my face.  Then I stood up and a breeze hit me and it felt so good. - Tate

I kind of expected the bannock to taste like bread but it tasted different and I really liked it. - Emily M.

I noticed that when we were looking at the ducks we saw some tiny ducks and they were really cute. - Savannah

I liked that I saw places in the coulee I have never seen before. - Anaya

Data we collected:

Duck pond was 10 degrees and the stream was 9 degrees.

We counted 10 dog walkers today.

The creek was 32 cm deep.

When I first went to taste it, I thought it would be bad but it was good! - Addy

When I was walking around the coulee I found a little animal home.  I put a stick in to see if something was home. - Will

I tried the blueberry jam and then the strawberry.  In my opinion, I liked the strawberry more. - Maevah

When we had free time, I put my hand in the water and it felt nice. - Shanaya
