Math - We had a fantastic discussion about the history of money and and why money is used. We can now identify different Canadian coins and their value and are learning strategies to add coins such as ordering them from greatest to least and counting by 25's, 10's, and 5's.
Literacy - After reading about the Seven Sacred Animals, the students have been researching quick, interesting facts about the animals. They've also discovered what teaching is associated to the animals and a little bit about their conservation history. The next step in their learning is to decide which of the seven animals they would like to study further by using the "Drawer" graphic organizer.
E-Motion - We have continued our dance/movement/emotional regulation residency. The students have been learning about their bodies as a shell for their heart and brain, understanding emotions and how our bodies move in different ways.
Inquiry- After our scientists carried out an experiment to answer our question, "does air take up space and have mass?" we concluded that yes air does have mass and takes the shape of it's container or surroundings. We also identified some of the characteristics of solids, liquids, and gases. Such as, a solid takes up space, it does not flow and things can't pass through.
