Our Week:

Art
Mr. Kelly was in this week and led us in a guided drawing of a Martian landscape.
We also created gnomes using 3D shapes and crafting materials.  Those will come home next week in time for the holidays.

Some students were asked to support our K friends with some work:)

Math
This week we continued to build our level of understanding of addition and subtraction in both grades.  Mrs. Cox's group was working with missing addends, missing subtrahends and balancing equations while Ms. Patterson's group was working on regrouping with larger numbers.
We also continued our work with geometric shapes and are exploring various polygons, parallel lines as well as perpendicular lines.

Literacy
Students who have completed their narrative writing started to write some Christmas themed short stories based on some funny writing prompts.  We continued our active reading strategies using Raz-Kids.  Literacy groups will start up again after Christmas.

Inquiry
While learning and researching the geographic regions of Alberta, we are studying Alberta's natural resources.  We paused our research to discuss this topic more specifically.  We are looking into renewable resources and non-renewable resources.  In science we have been doing some coding work with the Indi Cars.
