Our Week:

It sure was a cold one out there and we really appreciate families sending students with proper warm clothing for the weather.

Math Update:

Mrs. Cox and Ms. Paterson have had the students working in their grade groups on addition and subtraction of larger numbers with and without regrouping.  We have also continued our geometry learning with angles, and parallel/perpendicular lines and shapes.

Literacy

After the break, we have started new reading groups.  This is a targeted literacy time for 30 minutes each day to build phonemic awareness at each child's level.  Some groups are working on understanding long vowel teams, and other more complex morphemes.

In writing, we have started a poetry study.  We began by learning about what poetry is, looking at various examples of poetry and talking about rhyme and personification.

In PE we are working on racquet skills and doing floor hockey once/week.  Today we had the gym for some much needed physical activity and students had options (floor hockey, basketball, blue blocks, badminton and the climbing wall).

During our afternoon Inquiry time, the students are continuing their research on the Geographic Regions of Alberta.  They have begun working on their Google Slides presentations.

We have wrapped up our water cycle and states of matter in Science and are looking at different devices and ways to code using the robots we have in school.
