Pink Shirt Day!

A virtual visit from Monique Gray Smith, a celebrated Indigenous author of several books including, When We are Kind and You Hold Me Up. These books were a large part of our learning this week as we participated in the Pink Shirt Day initiative.

As part of our Pink Shirt Day work, we created symmetrical hearts. Within the hearts, we found 90-degree and 45-degree angles, and parallel lines, and even used a geometric tool called a 'Mira' to help us see both symmetry and congruence.

It was so fun being in the Hub/MakerSpace this week.  We designed pink shirts using a variety of materials available and programmed our Indi cars to make the shape of a heart using our knowledge of angles.

Inquiry:

The Bison, through giving its life and sharing every part of its being, showed the deep respect it had for the people.

With a focus on kindness this week our class decided to take a closer look at the American Bison. Like the bison, we too can show respect and kindness to others and ourselves.

Big Thanks Gr. 1/2's!
We really enjoyed your performance today.  We learned a lot about the Inuit and Arctic Animals.

Fun in the fresh snow!
