We are looking for a red magnet in the shape of a heart that was taken on Thursday. If you find it at home please have your child return it please.
Our Week:
Ignite
We were focusing on Earth Day this week with some recycled egg carton art, Earth Day water colour painting, and a journal page about what we love that Earth has created.
Math
In math, we continued to look at patterns. We have started to compare fractions using fraction strips and are finding equivalent fractions. We are starting to place fractions with different denominators on a number line. This is quite a difficult concept and the students are doing a fantastic job!
Inquiry
We have been studying fossils and are doing a news cast all about a dinosaur the students chose to study. We are exited to use the Green Screen Room to do our news cast. It's been a lot of fun learning about all of these different dinos! We also had two AMAZING presentations about rocks and minerals from two geologists. It was great to get into the coulee to learn about erratics and back in the school we got to learn what it means to be a geologist, the tools they use, and got to explore many rocks and fossils. While in the coulee we also went for a crocus hunt as these beautiful flowers are blooming in the coulee right now. Go out this weekend to search for them!
Literacy
We are finishing off with this round of Literacy Groups. We have been focusing on reading fluency and have really noticed a lot of growth when we hear students reading out loud. We are also wrapping up our persuasive writing letters which will be going home next week.
