Way to go with swimming all week, students!  We also want to say a huge thank you to all of the parents who were able to volunteer! Upcoming Dates: Student Led Conferences - March 21-22 (Sign up will come out in the next little while) Our Week: Swimming!! After returning from swimming each day the students were quite tired so our inquiry work with wheels and axles and levers was a good way to keep students engaged!  Students have been designing, building and testing their devices.   Math: While we continue to develop our multiplication and division skills, we took some time to create analog clocks and discuss time as well. Social Studies: We are continuing to read, "Ticket To Curlew" which is a novel about a family who moved to Alberta and settled the land over 100 years ago.  We are learning about the land, tools, housing and life on the prairies long ago.

Dates to remember:   March 4-8  -K & Gr 3/4 Swimming (Bring a small bag with towel, bathing suit if not wearing it, extra underwear, snack) Thursday, March 07 -Fun Snack  Pink Shirt Day! A virtual visit from Monique Gray Smith, a celebrated Indigenous author of several books including, When We are Kind and You Hold Me Up. These books were a large part of our learning this week as we participated in the Pink Shirt Day initiative.  As part of our Pink Shirt Day work, we created symmetrical hearts. Within the hearts, we found 90-degree and 45-degree angles, and parallel lines, and even used a geometric tool called a 'Mira' to help us see both symmetry and congruence.  It was so fun being in the Hub/MakerSpace this week.  We designed pink shirts using a variety of materials available and programmed our Indi cars to make the shape of a heart using our knowledge of angles.   Inquiry: The Bison, through giving its life and sharing every part of its b...

Important Dates to remember:  Feb 15-16: Teacher Convention- no school Feb 19: Family Day- no school Feb 21 : EHS School Council Meeting - 6:30 PM  This past week, we applied some of our gymnastics skills and did mission impossible!  While we investigate simple machines we have also looked at Alberta in the past and the technology at the time.  We came to learn that the means of transportation slowly changed over time. Did you know that horses are not native to Alberta?  How do you think hoses came to Alberta?  Part of our Valentine's Day celebration was spent surveying our classmates about their favorite chocolate bars. We used tally marks and created a bar graph to record our data. We then used our bar graph to inform us about what chocolate bar is most popular or least popular.  We could also tell how many more or less students liked a certain chocolate bar.
